Five years ago in December the Milyard family signed their contract to launch Delta Disaster Services of Western Colorado. There have been many ups and downs to the new business venture, but today, the Grand Junction business is stronger than ever. To celebrate this five-year milestone we want to share some of the great things the Delta Western team has accomplished and how they’ve grown into 2018.
Delta Disaster Services of Western Colorado launched on December 30th, 2014. They had just 3 employees at the time, with just enough equipment to handle small, basic mitigation jobs. The team operated out of a 4,000 square foot facility in an industrial area. The office began taking restoration work in the Summer of 2014, and completed 55 jobs over the following 12 months.
The Delta Western office expanded to two more adjacent buildings in their complex from 2014 to 2017. They had one building for mitigation, one building for fire restoration, and a building for asbestos abatement and reconstruction. Their number of employees grew, their list of services, amount of equipment, and impact on the local economy.
Today, Delta Disaster Services of Western Colorado has become one of the largest restoration companies in the Western Slope of Colorado. They now have 20 employees, a single 16,000 square foot facility, 36 combined IICRC certifications among their staff (IICRC is the governing body for the restoration industry), and 30 combined years of insurance adjusting experience among their employees. The team completed over 450 jobs in the last 12 months – over 8 times the number from just 5 years ago.
This year, Tyler Milyard who owns the Western franchise location along with his father, Bruce, invested in state-of-the-art contents cleaning equipment. His facility is now the most advanced of its kind on the Western Slope of Colorado. Contents cleaning refers to the restoration of the “contents” of a home after a fire loss, smoke damage, sewage, biohazard, or mold growth incident. In most circumstances, contents affected by such scenarios have to be thrown – many companies lack the ability to salvage them. Tyler’s operation however, is able to save over 70% of damaged contents and return them to new-quality.
A Job Well Done
The Delta Disaster Services team in Grand Junction is helping to set the standard for the entire franchise, and we are proud of the progress they have made thus far. Congratulations to them for five years of success and service to their community.
